Irrigation

I finally finished re-working the irrigation systems for our front and back lawns. Total cost: under $50. Estimated cost from contractors: somewhere around $2000. Heh!

Granted, I didn’t replace the 1/2″ line with 3/4″ or install any new valves, but I did dig up and replaced almost every sprinkler head in the front yard and added line to move one head to a better location.

The back yard was especially satisfying because everybody had been telling me that the pipes were steel, not PVC, but when I finally decided to remove the useless, steel impact heads, it turned out they were mounted on PVC after all! Sprinkler heads didn’t provide full coverage, but I found the Naan Irrigator at Do-It which has the same range as an impact head but uses a gear system instead so it is much quieter and less messy.
