My life and personal interests
Comics
There a literally hundreds of comics available on the internet. Many of them are digital versions of the syndicated cartoons that appear in newspapers. Others are purely on-line. As the author of the Daily Comics widget, I have become something of a critic, since I have been exposed to so many comics. Below are links to my favorites, along with some reviews. Be warned that my tastes are somewhat strange and eclectic. While I do read some syndicated strips, you won’t find many in this list!
- The Artiste Manquée
- A short, hilarous look at art school.
- B-Movie Comic
- The name says it all. It sometimes drags, but that’s just parodying the genre. Other times, it truly shines. It’s the first comic in a long time to make me double over laughing. PG-13 for gore.
- Bizarro
- The name says it all.
- Brathalla
- What were the Old Norse gods like when they were kids?
- Bruno the Bandit
- Biting satire in a fantasy setting. PG-13
- Buck Godot
- Studio Foglio, the gold standard of comics, tackles science fiction. R-rated
- Chasing the Sunset
- Beautifully drawn fantasy adventure with quirky humor
- Dreamland Chronicles
- Beautifully rendered fantasy adventure
- Elf Life
- This started as an epic tragedy of a changing world. Sadly, instead of finishing this grand tragedy, the emphasis has shifted to oversized bosoms. But the archives are still worth reading.
- FoxTrot
- Jason Fox. ‘Nuff said.
- Freefall
- Thoughtful, clever science fiction
- Gaming Guardians
- Wild, epic adventures in an RPG universe. PG-13 for violence.
- Girl Genius
- Studio Foglio, the gold standard of comics, tackles mad science. PG-13
- Goblins
- A great twist on D&D. The story is exciting, but it also never loses its sense of humor. It is D&D, after all
PG-13 for violence and gore. - Greystone Inn
- Hilarious comic about producing a comic
- Inexplicable Adventures of Bob!
- Bob is a very effective weirdness magnet.
- Legostar Galactica
- Very clever science fiction spoof done entirely with Lego. PG-13 for language and violence.
- Looking For Group
- Beautifully drawn, clever fantasy adventure
- Mansion of E
- It’s weird and wonderful. Very weird, but very well scripted. There is method to this madness!
- Piled Higher & Deeper
- For all those who are in grad school or have already escaped!
- Reasoned Cognition
- Answers to your science questions
- Schlock Mercenary
- Epic science fiction [Review]
- Star Bored
- Wild science fiction spoof. PG-13 for language.
- Starslip Crisis
- Satire of art and culture in a science fiction setting
- Station V3
- Silly science fiction
- Troops of Doom
- Slapstick comedy mashup of Star Wars and G.I. Joe. Rated R for all possible reasons, though it contains no actual swearing or nudity.
- User Friendly
- The adventures of a tiny ISP. Excellent satire on the tech industry.
- What’s New
- Studio Foglio’s classic series from Dragon. PG-13
- Vexxarr
- The misadventures of a very unfortunate alien
- Zortic
- Science fiction spoof.
